This Scholarship is instituted by M/s. Ravi Parthasarathy and family,
a generous Philanthropist in memory of their late mother Smt. Santha Parthasarthy.
Mrs. Santha Parthasarathy, popularly known as Santha Amma worked tirelessly
for the emancipation of women. Throughout her life she actively advocated the cause of women and believed
that no society could be civilized without having an embedded respect for women, and that educated women would
be key contributors to the success of the nation at large.
The streak of an academician could be found in Amma, as in 1959 post marriage,
she sought to educate herself further and enrolled in the Distance Learning Program with SNDT University
in Mumbai and acquired a Bachelors Degree in Arts in 1962. With her children coming of age, Amma entered
into the noble profession of Teaching and taught English in a Gujarati High School. Simultaneously,
understanding the need for professional training to be a Teacher, she enrolled herself in the
St. Xaviers Institute of Education and acquired a Diploma in Teaching. Through her life, she was a
compassionate person who routinely sought to assist others.
After a mercifully brief struggle against cancer Amma, 82, passed away in 2012.
In order to commemorate the first anniversary of her passing away, it has been proposed to set up this
scholarship for providing financial assistance to women who are economically disadvantaged.
This scholarship is exclusively for students pursuing studies in Seva Rathna Vallal RCK College Of Engineering,
an AICTE accredited institution in Vallal RCK Nagar, Vengal Village, Tamil Nadu. The key component of this scholarship
is that it would fund the aggregate financial requirements of deserving women students towards defraying the cost of education.
As the scholarship is paid out of earnings from the Corpus, every student availing such scholarship is encouraged to
replenish the Corpus by repaying the money to the fund upon entering employment.
